Podcast: Do You Need to Give Up Your Culture to Go Vegan?
Repost from Once Upon A Chai
Finally had a super delicious vegan dal makhani/black dal in Bombay! We'd ordered this meal from @iamayogisattva soon after they introduced their collaborative Indian menu. The Dal Makhani was delicious, flavourful and very satisfying, and yet not heavy at all. It was also a big generous portion (but @veganbombayboy and I gobbled it all up). 😀🤤 Their Amaranth Flax Roti went very well with it. It was a soft chewy roti that reminded me of my mom's potato rotis that my friends and I loved when we were younger. 🥰
Pav bhaji (made without butter, of course) with some @purebrot sourdough toast (I think it was their Emmer bread... Can't remember as this meal was a few days ago!) Put coriander chutney on one and garlic chutney and a local avocado on the other...had a few of these! Sounds random but seriously so yum! 🤩
Forgot to share the churros in the previous post! Loved this cinnamony sugary yummy indulgence! We ordered the vegan churros but as @mexibay.in's dip isn't vegan, here I'm having them with @mountainmuse.india @sugarblissbypooja's Mamra almond chocolate spread that I'd ordered a while ago. So so so good! 🤩
Ordered this delish meal from @mexibay.in a couple of weeks ago. I was thrilled that they had vegan options for almost everything on their menu and it was so easy and convenient to order without needing to contact them. ✅ We got almost everything on their vegan menu except for the chimichangas! 🌱
Just a close up of one of our favourite lunch items...a mix of local leafies - palak, methi, tandaljo, lal math (spinach, fenugreek, amaranth and red amaranth leaves) cooked with some onion, garlic and simple spices.
It's so hard to post food photos here without thinking of my mom and missing her. 😔😥 My daily meals don't look the same without her. But I know that even though she's not here physically, she wants me to keep going and make time for the things I loved doing... Like sharing my food here with all of you!
